Hadith on Pardon: Allah has remained silent on matters to pardon you for them

Abu Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “That which Allah has declared lawful in his book is lawful, and that which he has declared unlawful is unlawful. Whatever he has remained silent upon is pardonable for you, so accept the pardon from Allah. Verily, Allah is never forgetful.” Then the Prophet recited the verse, “And your Lord is not forgetful.” (19:64)

Ibn Rajab said, “Some of the Shafi’ee scholars said it is not appropriate for us to burden ourselves with making fine distinctions in hypothetical cases, as is the habit of the people of opinions.”
