بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ
685. Abu Hurairah رضى الله تعالى عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Do not precede the month of Ramadan by fasting a day or two before it, unless it is the case of a man who normally performs some fast, then let him fast it.” (Sahih)
Comments:
It is prohibited to fast a day or two days for welcoming Ramadan, before the arrival of Ramadan. However, if a day before Ramadan coincides with one’s regular fasting, for example: a person fasts every Monday and Thursday, and Monday or Thursday occurs just before the commencement of Ramadan, then he may fast on such a day.
