Thawban reported: When the verses about gold and silver were revealed, they said, “What kind of wealth should we acquire?” Umar said, “I will learn it for you.” He rode on his camel until he caught up to the Prophet and I followed him. Umar said, “O Messenger of Allah, what kind of wealth should we acquire?” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “You should acquire a grateful heart, a tongue of remembrance, and a believing wife to help you in the matters of the Hereafter.”

عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَ فِي الْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ مَا نَزَلَ قَالُوا فَأَيَّ الْمَالِ نَتَّخِذُ قَالَ عُمَرُ فَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ لَكُمْ ذَلِكَ فَأَوْضَعَ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ فَأَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا فِي أَثَرِهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيَّ الْمَالِ نَتَّخِذُ فَقَالَ لِيَتَّخِذْ أَحَدُكُمْ قَلْبًا شَاكِرًا وَلِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا وَزَوْجَةً مُؤْمِنَةً تُعِينُ أَحَدَكُمْ عَلَى أَمْرِ الْآخِرَةِ
