Al-Ghazali said, “Glory to Him who made kings into slaves by their disobedience and made slaves into kings by their obedience to Him. Verily, desire and lust turn kings into slaves and that is part of their corruption. If they are patient and mindful of Allah, then slaves will turn into kings.”
