Hadith on Plunder: To steal from the enemy is unlawful

Tha’labah ibn Hakam reported: We came across some sheep of the enemy, so we plundered them and set up our cooking pots. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by and ordered that they be overturned. The Prophet said, “Verily, plunder is unlawful.”

عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ أَصَبْنَا غَنَمًا لِلْعَدُوِّ فَانْتَهَبْنَاهَا فَنَصَبْنَا قُدُورَنَا فَمَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْقُدُورِ فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَأُكْفِئَتْ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ النُّهْبَةَ لَا تَحِلُّ
