Abu Huraira reported: The tribe of Harith ibn Amir had purchased Khubaib, may Allah be pleased with him, as he had killed Harith during the battle of Badr, so they took him as a prisoner until they agreed they would execute him. Khubaib wanted to borrow a razor from the daughter of Harith so he could shave and she allowed it. A small boy of hers drew close to Khubaib while she was unaware, then she came to him and found Khubaib with the boy in his lap and the razor in his hand. She became terrified and he noticed her fear. Khubaib said, “Are you afraid that I would kill him? I would never do that.” She said, “By Allah, I have never seen a prisoner behave better than Khubaib.”

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ ابْتَاعَ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ خُبَيْبًا رضي الله عنه وَكَانَ خُبَيْبٌ هُوَ قَتَلَ الْحَارِثَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ فَلَبِثَ خُبَيْبٌ عِنْدَهُمْ أَسِيرًا حَتَّى أَجْمَعُوا لِقَتْلِهِ فَاسْتَعَارَ مِنْ ابْنَةِ الْحَارِثِ مُوسًى يَسْتَحِدُّ بِهَا فَأَعَارَتْهُ فَدَرَجَ بُنَيٌّ لَهَا وَهِيَ غَافِلَةٌ حَتَّى أَتَتْهُ فَوَجَدَتْهُ مُخْلِيًا وَهُوَ عَلَى فَخْذِهِ وَالْمُوسَى بِيَدِهِ فَفَزِعَتْ فَزْعَةً عَرَفَهَا فِيهَا فَقَالَ أَتَخْشَيْنَ أَنْ أَقْتُلَهُ مَا كُنْتُ لِأَفْعَلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَتْ وَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ أَسِيرًا قَطُّ خَيْرًا مِنْ خُبَيْبٍ
